Generic name for a manufactured fiber containing at least 85% of a long-chain polymer of vinylidene dinitrile, CH2C(CH)2, where the vinylidene dinitrile content is no less than every other unit in the polymer chain (Federal Trade Commission).
Properties:
Soft, resilient fabric is obtained; easy to clean, does not pill, resists wrinkling and retains shape after pressing.
Use:
Furlike pile fabrics, sweaters, yarns, blended fabrics for coats and suits.
