An insoluble red pigment derived from β-naphthol and p-nitroaniline. The former is sometimes partly replaced by mono-acid F, 2-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid. By varying the conditions of temperature and acid concentration, different shades may be obtained.

Use:

Paint and printing-ink pigments, making para lakes.
