Unstable acid formed when a solution of chromic acid is added to hydrogen peroxide; forms deep-blue crystals below −15C; the blue color can be extracted from solutions by ether; decomposes in acid solution to form chromic salts and in alkaline solution to form chromates; the blue color can be used as a test for chloride or chromate.
