A type of phenol-formaldehyde resin. Permanently fusible; soluble in water, ketones, and alcohols. By dissolving and adjusting the pH to 7, an adhesive base is formed. These adhesives can be used whenever phenolics are used and where fast or room-temperature cure is desired. An important use of these adhesives is in wood gluing, particularly marine plywood.
