Chief among these are evaporation, distillation, drying, gas absorption, sedimentation, solvent extraction, press extraction, adsorption, and filtration. Specialized methods include centrifugation, electromagnetic separation (mass spectrograph), gaseous diffusion, and various types of chromatography.
