An aluminum silicate, a high-heat-resisting material containing a maximum amount of mullite, developed from the alteration of andalusite during firing. This necessitates firing at above 1550C for the development of a suitable crystalline structure.

Use:

Spark plugs, chemical lab ware, pyrometer tubes, special porcelain shapes, furnace patch and refractories.
