Grayish-black powder. D 7.32 (25C), bp decomposes, mp 825C. Soluble in concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids; insoluble in water.
Derivation:
By passing hydrogen sulfide gas into silver nitrate solution, washing and drying.
Use:
Inlaying in niello metalwork, ceramics.
