    Properties:
    White precipitate or crystals of the mineral celestite; odorless. D 3.71–3.97, mp 1605C. Slightly soluble in concentrated acids; very slightly soluble in water; insoluble in alcohol and dilute sulfuric acid.
     
    Derivation:
    (1) Celestite is ground; (2) precipitation of any soluble strontium salt with sodium sulfate.
     
    Grade:
    Natural, precipitated, air-floated, 90%, 325 mesh, free from sodium salts, CP.
     
    Use:
    Pyrotechnics, ceramics and glass, paper manufacture.
