A substance added to vinyl chloride resins during compounding, to retard the rate of deterioration caused by formation of hydrogen chloride. Many combine readily with hydrogen chloride but do not otherwise interfere with the properties and uses of the final product. Amines, basic oxides, and metallic soaps are commonly used.
