Properties:
White, odorless powder. D 3.31 (15C), loses 1H2O at 100C. Insoluble in water; soluble in acids and alkalies.
Derivation:
(1) Occurs in nature as mineral koettigite, (2) by reaction of a solution of sodium arsenate and a soluble zinc salt.
Hazard:
Toxic by ingestion and inhalation.
Use:
Insecticide, wood preservative.
