By distilling sodium ricinoleate with an excess of sodium hydroxide.

Technical 92–99%, pure.
Use:
Solvent, manufacture of plasticizers, wetting agents, foam-control agents, hydraulic oils, petroleum additives, perfume intermediates, masking of industrial odors.
