Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 1.2-Dichlor-tetraphenyl-disilan and methylmagnesium bromide. This reaction will need solvent diethyl ether. The reaction time is 3 hours by heating. The yield is about 75%.

Uses of Disilane,1,2-dimethyl-1,1,2,2-tetraphenyl-: it can be used to produce 1-chloro-1,2-dimethyl-1,2,2-triphenyl-disilane. It will need reagent HCl, AlCl₃ and solvent CHCl₃ with reaction time of 7 hours. The yield is about 50%.
