[22] A correlation between the leaving group ability (nucleofugality) and the
Lewis acid strength of the promoter is characterized by the relative
amount of -hydroxyglycine 3 building-up in each reaction (monitored by
1H NMR). More reactive promoters enhance the leaving group departure
leading to the N-carbamoyl-iminium 6 and a faster clearance of 3 by
accelerating the deoxyhalogenation rate-limiting step.

[26] -Fluoroglycine 4a was found to degrade rapidly at -78 oC when kept in
a typical borosilicate glass reaction vessel (<10% recovery after 24 h),
but 4a can be preserved intact in a PTFE container for 48 h.
