Cyclotrimerization of nitriles catalyzed by SmI2/amines: Synthesis of 2,4,6-trisubstituted-s-triazines

SmI₂ has been found to catalyze a reaction of cyclotrimerization of nitriles in the presence of amine as cocatalyst to give 2,4,6-trisubstituted- s-triazines effectively under mild reaction conditions. The yield depends on the structure of nitriles.
