Iridium Specification

This product's systematic name is Iridium. With the CAS registry number 7439-88-5, it is also named as Iridium, elemental. It belongs to the product categories of Inorganics; AA Standard Solutions Spectroscopy; AAS; Alphabetic; ChlorideAnalytical Standards; ISpectroscopy; Matrix Selection; Reference/Calibration Standards; Single Solution; Standard Solutions; Iridium; Metal and Ceramic Science; Metals; Metal or element. Its EINECS number is 231-095-9. It is metallic element with the atomic symbol Ir, atomic number 77, and atomic weight 192.22. Iridium is the second-densest element (after osmium) and is the most corrosion-resistant metal, even at temperatures as high as 2000 °C. This substance should be sealed and stored in a cool, ventilated and dry place. Moreover, it should be protected from oxides, heat and fire. It is mainly used for electric instruments, chemical industry and the production of precision alloys for industrial use.

Preparation: it is obtained commercially as a by-product from nickel and copper mining and processing. During electrorefining of copper and nickel, noble metals such as silver, gold and the platinum group metals as well as selenium and tellurium settle to the bottom of the cell as anode mud, which forms the starting point for their extraction. In order to separate the metals, they must first be brought into solution. Several methods are available depending on the separation process and the composition of the mixture; two representative methods are fusion with sodium peroxide followed by dissolution in aqua regia, and dissolution in a mixture of chlorine with hydrochloric acid.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
This chemical is highly flammable, so you should keep it away from sources of ignition - No smoking. It is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. In case of contact with eyes, you should rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. When using it, you need wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
(1)SMILES: [Ir]
(2)Std. InChI: InChI=1S/Ir
(3)Std. InChIKey: GKOZUEZYRPOHIO-UHFFFAOYSA-N
