Preparation of Isobutylmercaptan: this chemical can be prepared by ethyl-dithiocarbamic acid isobutyl ester at the temperature of 250 - 260 °C. The yield is about 89%.

Uses of Isobutylmercaptan: it can be used to produce diisobutyl-disulfane by heating. It will need reagent 2CrO₄ and solvent benzene with the reaction time of 8 hours. The yield is about 70%.
