Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) Specification

This product is an organic compound with the formula (C2F4)n. The systematic name of this chemical is Poly(tetrafluoroethylene). It belongs to the product categories of Polymers; Chromosorb; Packed GC; Supports. Its EINECS number is 204-126-9. With the CAS registry number 9002-84-0, it is also named as Ethene,tetrafluoro-, homopolymer. Its classification codes are: (1)TSCA Flag XU [Exempt from reporting under the Inventory Update Rule]; (2)Tumor data. Its coefficient of friction is 0.05 to 0.10, which is the third-lowest of any known solid material. In addition, it has excellent dielectric properties. It is stable at common pressure and temperature, and it should be sealed and stored in a cool, ventilated and dry place. Moreover, it should be protected from heat and moisture. Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene that finds numerous applications. It is most well known by the DuPont brand name Teflon. It is used as a non-stick coating for pans and other cookware. It is very non-reactive, partly because of the strength of carbon–fluorine bonds, and so it is often used in containers and pipework for reactive and corrosive chemicals. Where used as a lubricant, it reduces friction, wear, and energy consumption of machinery.

Preparation: with water as medium, potassium sulfate as initiator, fluorine carboxylic acid ammonium salt as dispersant, fluorine carbon compounds as stabilizer, polytetrafluoroethylene is produced through redox polymerizating tetrafluoroethylene in an enamel or a stainless steel polymerization kettle.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
It is irritating to eyes and skin. It has a risk of serious damage to eyes and may cause cancer. In case of contact with eyes, you should rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. When using it, you need wear eye/face protection and must avoid contact with eyes. You should not breathe dust and gas/fumes/vapour/spray (appropriate wording to be specified by the manufacturer). In case of accident or if you feel unwell, you should seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible). It should be avoided exposure that you need obtain special instructions before use.
