  • Description White free flowing powder or granular material. Slightly soluble in water with a neutral solution pH. Molecular weight is 174.34 for the trihydrate and 120.29 for the anhydrous. Magnesium phosphate is found as the trihydrate (MgHP04*3H2O) or as a mixture of trihydrate and anhydrous (MgHP04). The trihydrate provides 20.21% magnesium and 25.75% phosphorus. The anhydrous provides 13.95% magnesium and 17.77% phosphorus. When used as a leavening agent the neutralizing value is about 40.
