  • Description Dinactin is a macrotetrolide antibiotic that acts as an ionophore for monovalent cations, such as K+, NH4+, and Rb+. It is commonly used to study membrane properties. Dinactin is a component of a macrotetralide-rich antifungal mixture produced by Streptomyces. Dinactin inhibits T-cell proliferation and cytokine production in vitro and reduces pulmonary eosinophilia in antigen-challenged mice.
  • Uses Dinactin is a member of the macrotetrolide complex produced by a range of Streptomyces species. It is a monovalent cation ionophore with high selectivity for ammonium and potassium. Dinactin inhibits T-cell proliferation induced by IL-2 and cytokine production at nanomolar levels for IL-2, IL-4, IL-5 and interferon-γ. Dinactin has not previously been available for intensive investigation. Dinactin is a hydrophobic cyclic ester that inhibits T-cell proliferation induced by IL-2.
