N-[3-Hydroxy-1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)-3-(4-octylphenyl)propyl]-acetamide is an intermediate used in the synthesis of 1-Hydroxy Fingolimod Hydrochloride (H942605), which is an impurity of the drug Fingolimond (F805000, HCl salt) which is a novel immune modulator that prolongs allograft transplant survival in numberour models by inhibiting lymphocyte emigration from lymphoid organs.
