Uses
5ALPHA-ANDROST-16-EN-3ALPHA-OL is an alcohol derivative and can be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. 5-α-androst-16-en-3-α-ol (androstenol) is an androgen believed to act as a pheromone. Androstenol has been used in a study to develop a combined gas chromatography/thermal conversion/isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC/TC/IRMS) method for D/H ratio determination of endogenous urinary steroids.
