Description
This alkaloid occurs in Hyrnenocallis arnancaes and also in the domesticated
varieties of Narcissus. It yields colourless prisms from Me2CO and is laevo_x0002_rotatory with [α]D
- 32° (CHC13). The crystalline hydriodide, m.p. 2S3-4°C
(dec.); picrate, m.p. 192°C (dec.), picrolonate, m.p. 204-SoC (dec.) and
methiodide, m.p. 266-7°C (dec.) have been prepared. With AC20 in pyridine,
the base furnishes the O,O-diacetate, m.p. 170-2°C (dec.).
