Au(III) and Pt(II) Complexes of a Novel and Versatile 1,4-Disubstituted 1,2,3-Triazole-Based Ligand Possessing Diverse Secondary and Tertiary Coordinating Groups

10.1021/acs.inorgchem.8b01994

The research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of a novel 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole-based ligand, 2-(4-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)propane-1,3-diamine (ptpd), and its coordination complexes with Au(III) and Pt(II) metals. The purpose of this study is to explore the versatility of the ptpd ligand in forming coordination complexes with different metals through various coordination modes, which could have applications in areas such as catalysis, drug development, and metal ion sensing. The key chemicals used include the ligand precursors like 2-ethynylpyridine and di-tert-butyl (2-azidopropane-1,3-diyl)dicarbamate, as well as metal precursors like Na[Au(III)Cl4] and K2[PtCl4]. The study concludes that ptpd can act as a versatile ligand, coordinating to Au(III) through the pyridine nitrogen or the diamino group, and to Pt(II) through the pyridyl nitrogen and triazole N-3, or bridging two Pt(II) centers via the diamino group and the pyridyl nitrogen-triazole N-3 chelation. This demonstrates the potential of ptpd as a template for developing mixed metal complexes.
