Soybean oil Specification

The systematic name of this chemical is Soybean oil. With the CAS registry number 8001-22-7, it is also named as Acidulated soybean soapstock. The classification codes are Drug / Therapeutic Agent; TSCA UVCB. It is pale yellow oily liquid which is soluble in hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, higher alcohols and other organic solvents, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water. It also can react with acids to liberate heat. Heat is also generated by interaction with caustic solutions. Additionally, this chemical should be stored in the cool and dry place.

Preparation of Soybean oil: It can be extracted from the seeds of the soybean. The soybeans are cracked, adjusted for moisture content, heated to between 140°F and 190°F, rolled into flakes, and solvent-extracted with hexane. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications.

Uses of Soybean oil: It is mostly used for frying and baking. It is also used as a condiment for salads. What's more, it is used in some printing ink and oil paint formulations. In addition, it is used as a fixative to extend the short duration of action of essential oils such as geranium oil in several commercial products.
