Thallium sulfate Consensus Reports

Thallium and its compounds are on the Community Right-To-Know List. EPA Extremely Hazardous Substances List. Reported in EPA TSCA Inventory.

Thallium sulfate Safety Profile

Poison to humans by ingestion. Experimental poison by ingestion, intravenous, and subcutaneous routes. Human systemic effects: cardiomyopathy, diarrhea, effects on recordings from peripheral motor nerve, hair changes, hypermotility, nausea or vomiting. Its main hazard is due to its accumulation, especially in liver, brain, and skeletal muscle; readily absorbed by gastrointestinal tract and skin. A cellular toxicant like arsenic. Fatal human dose is about 500 mg of thallium. Intake of thallium causes depilation. Many reported fatalities. An experimental teratogen. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of SOx and Tl. Pesticide for control of rats, moles, and house mice. See also THALLIUM COMPOUNDS and SULFATES.

Thallium sulfate Specification

Thallium sulfate (CAS NO.10031-59-1) is also called AI3-26193 ; Bonide antzix ; HSDB 6057 ; RCRA waste number P115 ; Ratox ; Sulfuric acid, thallium salt ; Th-Universal ; Thallous sulfate ; Tharattin ; Zelio ; Sulfuric acid, thallium salt ; Sulfuric acid, thallium salt (1:1) . Thallium sulfate (CAS NO.10031-59-1) is high toxic. It is not flammable. It will produce toxic sulfur oxides and containing thallium compounds smoke by heat. So the storage environment should be ventilate, low-temperature and dry. Keep Thallium sulfate (CAS NO.10031-59-1) separate from alkalis, acids and food additives.
