Preparation of 3-Thiopheneethanol: this chemical can be prepared by thiophen-3-yl-acetic acid. This reaction needs reagent LiAlH4. The yield is 89 %.

Uses of 3-Thiopheneethanol: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it can react with toluene-4-sulfonyl chloride to get 1-thiophen-3-yl-2-(toluene-4-sulfonyloxy)-ethane. The reaction occurs with reagent Et3N and solvent CH2Cl2. The yield is 100 %.

 3-Thiopheneethanol can react with toluene-4-sulfonyl chloride to get 1-thiophen-3-yl-2-(toluene-4-sulfonyloxy)-ethane.
