Preparation of N,N-Dimethylethanolamine: it can be prepared by dimethylamine and epoxyethane through ammoniation reaction. And then after a series of distillation, rectification and dehydration you can get the desired product.
Uses of N,N-Dimethylethanolamine: it can react with (2-chloro-ethyl)-dimethyl-amine to get bis-(2-dimethylamino-ethyl)-ether. This reaction will need reagent 50 percent NaOH, catalyst Adogen 464 and solvent tetrahydrofuran. The reaction time is 6 hours by heating. The yield is about 35%.
