The Platinum dioxide (PtO₂), with the CAS registry number 1314-15-4 and EINECS registry number 215-223-0, has the systematic name of dioxoplatinum. It is a kind of inorganics, and often used as hydrogenation catalyst. And the molecular formula of this chemical is PtO₂.

The physical properties of Platinum dioxide (PtO₂) are as followings: (1)#H bond acceptors: 2; (2)#H bond donors: 0; (3)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 0; (4)Polar Surface Area: 34.14 Å².

Preparation: Boil the concentrated pure H₂PtCl₆ solution and Na₂CO₃ concentrated solution to obtain PtO₂^.xH₂O precipitate. Then kilndry it with the temperature of 200°C. Boil the precipitate with dilute Na₂CO₃ solution and distilled water to remove the chloride. And add dilute H₂SO₄ solution and distilled water to remove the alkali. After then, filter it and place it in water bath to make it dry.
