Preparation of Isonicotinic acid hydrazide: it can be prepared by isonicotinic acid and hydratehydrazine through condensation reaction. The reaction time is 3 hours at reaction temperature of 129-130 °C. After a series of decoloring by activated carbon, filtration, cooling and crystallization you can get the crude. Then you can go through the operation of recrystallization, filtering, drying to get the products. The yield is about 90%.
Uses of Isonicotinic acid hydrazide: it can be used for electroplating additives and pharmaceutical intermediates. It remains the treatment of choice for tuberculosis. And it can react with pyridine-4-carbaldehyde to get pyridine-4-carbaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone. This reaction will need reagent conc.HCl and solvent ethanol. The reaction time is 30 minutes at reaction temperature of 20 °C. The yield is about 90%.
