Mildly toxic by several routes. An experimental teratogen. Other experimental reproductive effects. Human systemic effects: ulceration or bleeding from small and large intestine, hemorrhage, thrombocytopenia. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of SOx, NOx, and Na2O.
