The CAS register number of 2H-Pyran,3,4-dihydro-6-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]- is 71309-70-1. It also can be called as 3,4-Dihydro-6-(trimethylsiloxy)-2H-pyran. The molecular formula about this chemical is C8H16O2Si and the molecular weight is 172.3. This chemical is flammable. If you want to store it, keep away from sources of ignition.

Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by tetrahydro-pyran-2-one and chloro-trimethyl-silane. This reaction will need solvent of tetrahydrofuran. The reaction temperature is -80 °C. The yield is about 90%.

2H-Pyran,3,4-dihydro-6-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]- can be prepared by tetrahydro-pyran-2-one and chloro-trimethyl-silane.

Uses of 2H-Pyran,3,4-dihydro-6-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]-: it can be used to produce 3-butyl-tetrahydro-pyran-2-one with 1-iodo-butane. This reaction will need reagent of AgOCOCF3 and solvent of CH2Cl2. The reaction time is 10 minutes with reaction temperature of 25 °C. The yield is about 54%.

2H-Pyran,3,4-dihydro-6-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]- can be used to produce 3-butyl-tetrahydro-pyran-2-one with 1-iodo-butane.
