123116-01-8 Usage
General Description
2-(Ethylthio)nicotinoyl chloride, also known as ethionamide, is a chemical compound used in the treatment of tuberculosis. It belongs to the class of thioamide antibiotics and works by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acids in the cell wall of the tuberculosis bacteria. This disruption of cell wall formation prevents the bacteria from replicating and spreading, ultimately leading to their death. Ethionamide is typically administered in combination with other medications for the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis. It is well absorbed after oral administration and is rapidly metabolized in the liver. Despite its effectiveness, ethionamide can cause side effects such as gastrointestinal discomfort, liver toxicity, and neurotoxicity, and therefore should be used with caution.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 123116-01-8 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,2,3,1,1 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 123116-01:
(8*1)+(7*2)+(6*3)+(5*1)+(4*1)+(3*6)+(2*0)+(1*1)=68
68 % 10 = 8
So 123116-01-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
