General Description

(Z)-1,2-Ethenediylbis(dimethylarsine) is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H16As2. It is also known as ethylenebis(dimethylarsine) and is a member of the organoarsenic compounds. The compound consists of a central ethylene group (C2H4) with two dimethylarsine (CH3As) groups attached to either end. It is a colorless liquid with a garlic-like odor and is primarily used as a ligand in coordination chemistry and organometallic chemistry. It is also used as a precursor in the synthesis of other organoarsenic compounds and can act as a reducing agent in certain chemical reactions. Due to the toxic and potentially hazardous nature of arsenic compounds, caution should be exercised when handling (Z)-1,2-Ethenediylbis(dimethylarsine).
