General Description

(E)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclopentanone, also known as 2-hydroxybenzylidene-2-cyclopentanone, is an organic compound with the molecular formula C13H14O2. The invention relates to 2-methylene-5-substituted-methylenecyclopentanone derivatives of formula I, and the use thereof. The derivatives of formula I as active components are useful for preparing a medicine for the treatment and/or prevention of cancer diseases such as breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, rectal cancer, stomach cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, uterus cancer, pancreatic cancer and ovary cancer. POLYMETHINE DYES BASED ON BENZOPYRYLIUM IONS

A method is described for the synthesis of a series of benzopyrylium polymethine dyes by the acid cyclization of 2-hydroxystyryl polyenyl ketones, obtained by the successive crotonic condensation of aliphatic or alicyclic ketones initially with salicylaldehyde and its alkyl or halogen derivatives and then with aromatic aldehydes containing a p-methoxyphenyl or 9-alkylcarbazole fragment.The electronic absorption spectra of the new benzopyrylium dyes were studied.
