(Figure Presented) Fresh pasture for the [2+2+2] cycloaddition: The two sesquiterpenoids pasteurestin A and B, which exhibit strong and selective antibacterial activity against Pasteurella haemolytica, have been prepared in a synthesis relying on a [2+2+2] Vollhardt enediyne cycloaddition. The previously unknown absolute and relative configurations were established, and the biological profile was specified more precisely.
