The design and two-component [2 + 3] self-assembly of a series of new organometallic molecular prisms (3a-d) are described. Assemblies 3a,b incorporate 4,4',4'-tris[ethynyl-trans-Pt(PEt2)2(N0 3)]triphenylamine (la) containing a Pt-et
Self-assembly of a nanoscopic prism via a new organometallic Pt3 acceptor and its fluorescent detection of nitroaromatics
Ghosh, Sushobhan,Mukherjee, Partha Sarathi
, p. 316 - 319 (2008/10/09)
A nanoscale-sized cage with a trigonal prismatic shape is prepared by coordination-driven self-assembly of a predesigned organometallic Pt3 acceptor with an organic cliptype ligand. This trigonal prism is fluorescent and undergoes efficient fluorescence quenching by nitroaromatics, which are the chemical signatures of many explosives.
