Usage

General Description

Diphenyltin, also known as diphenyltin dichloride, is an organotin compound with the chemical formula (C6H5)2SnCl2. It is a white solid with a slightly sweet odor and is insoluble in water. Diphenyltin is used as a fungicide, bactericide, and algicide in the agricultural industry. It is also used as a stabilizer in PVC and as a catalyst in organic synthesis. However, diphenyltin is toxic to aquatic organisms and can bioaccumulate in the environment, posing potential ecological risks. It is classified as a persistent organic pollutant (POP) under the Stockholm Convention. Regulatory restrictions on the use of diphenyltin have been implemented in many countries due to its potential environmental and health hazards.
