General Description

2-Amino-3-hydroxy-2-methylbutanoic acid, also known as leucic acid, is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative that is produced in the body during the breakdown of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), such as leucine. It is also found in certain foods, such as meat and dairy products. Leucic acid has been shown to have potential benefits for muscle growth and recovery, as well as for reducing muscle breakdown and improving exercise performance. It is often used as a dietary supplement by athletes and bodybuilders to support their training and recovery efforts. Leucic acid is generally considered safe when consumed in recommended doses, but high doses may have adverse effects on kidney function.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 10148-74-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,1,4 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10148-74:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*8)+(2*7)+(1*4)=70
70 % 10 = 0
So 10148-74-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Biocatalytic access to α,α-dialkyl-α-amino acids by a mechanism-based approach

supporting information; experimental part, p. 121 - 124 (2010/04/04)

(figure presented) New donors - new products: Threonine aldolases (L-TA, D-TA) have now been found to accept donors other than glycine. In a simple asymmetric biocatalytic aldol reaction alanine, serine, and cysteine reacted with a range of simple acceptor aldehydes to yielded α-substituted serine derivatives (see scheme; PLP=pyridoxal phosphate).
