Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 102088-40-4 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,2,0,8 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 102088-40:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*8)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*0)=84
84 % 10 = 4
So 102088-40-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A NEW SYNTHESIS OF p-NITROCALIXARENE

Shinkai, Seiji,Tsubaki, Takayuki,Sone, Takaaki,Manabe, Osamu

, p. 3343 - 3344 (1985)

p-Nitrocalixarene which possibly serves as a potential intermediate to derive functionalized calixarenes was synthesized for the first time.

New synthetic method of p-nitrocalixarenes

Zhang, Wen-Chun,Zheng, Yan-Song,Huang, Zhi-Tang

, p. 3763 - 3767 (1997)

Calixarenes 1 were directly nitrated with potassium nitrate and aluminum chloride to give p-nitrocalixarenes 2 in good yields. Formation of p-nitrocalix[4]arene (2a) from reaction of p-bromomethylcalix[4]arene (3) with silver nitrate is also described.

New Syntheses of Calixarene-p-sulphonates and p-Nitrocalixarenes

Shinkai, Seiji,Araki, Koji,Tsubaki, Takayuki,Arimura, Takashi,Manabe, Osamu

, p. 2297 - 2300 (2007/10/02)

Calixarene-p-sulphonates (tetramer, hexamer, and octamer) have been prepared (75-88percent) and used to give p-nitrocalixarenes (15-22percent yields based on the starting calixarenes). The novel nitration has two advatages: (i) calixarenes are protected from nitric acid oxidation by the electron-withdrawing sulphonate groups and (ii) the difference in the water-solubility of the p-nitrocalixarenes from the sulphonate-containing, lower nitration products, allows ready isolation of the former. The p-nitrocalixarenes thus obtained have potential as intermediates in the synthesis of a variety of functionalised calixarenes.
