Description

POTASSIUM MANGANATE is a green solid with the chemical formula K2MnO4. It is soluble in water and stable in alkaline conditions. It is formed by heating manganese dioxide and potassium carbonate at high temperatures, followed by extraction with water and evaporation of the solution. POTASSIUM MANGANATE is the first step in the preparation of potassium manganate and permanganate from pyrolusite.
