The complexes of 2-methoxy-4-amino-5-chloro-N-benzamide (L) with the metal ions of the types ML3X2 (m = Ni(II), Cd(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II); X = 1/2SO4(2-), Cl(1-) or NO3(1-), ML2X2 (M = Cu(II), MLX2 (M = Pd(II) and MLX (M = Ag(I)) have been isolated and characterised on the basis of their elemental analyses, magnetic, molar conductance, ir and electronic spectral studies.The ML2X2 and MLX2 complexes are square planar, while ML3X2 complexes are octahedral.The MLX complex is probably bridging one.Only the Pd(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Ag(I) complexes are diamagnetic, while the other are paramagnetic.They all are electrolytes except the Pd(II) complex, which is non-electrolyte.
