Reaction of the 2-oxocarbonyl chlorides 2a-c, 4a-c, and 6a, b with the nitriles 1a-n gives the chloroformamidines 3a-h, 5a-r, 7a-f, and 8a-d. 2,4-Dichloroacetoacetyl chloride (9) reacts with the nitriles 1a, c, e, and f to afford the oxazinones 10a-d.
