, p. 711 - 713 (1986)
Reaction of cis-PtCl2(PMe3)2 with 2 and in dichloromethane gives , (1), or alternatively protonation of yields , (2); the crystal structures of (1) and (2) reveal that the planar cations stack with significant close interactions.

, p. 925 - 930 (2007/10/02)
Reaction of 2Cl2, or SeCl4-Cl, with (PR3 = PEt3, PMe2Ph, PMePh2, PPh3, or 1/2 Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) in liquid ammonia gives complexes of the type (ca. 70percent yield).Reaction of SeCl4 with (PR3 = PEt3, PMe2Ph, PMePh2, PPh3, or 1/2 Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) in liquid ammonia produces in variable yield (ca. 24-74percent).Treatment of or with HBF4 in tetrahydrofuran-benzene produces BF4 or BF4 quantitatively according to 31P n.m.r., i.r., mass spectra, and microanalyses.Proton-exchange reactions reveal increasing basicity in the series ca. , , .

Reaction of Cl or Cl in liquid ammonia with or (L-L' = C-N ligand) gives and respectively; in some cases complexes containing S3N(1-) ligands were also obtained. An alternative route to complexes using is also reported.Reaction of S8-NH3(I) solutions with gives .The new complexes were characterised by microanalyses, i.r., n.m.r., and mass spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography.
Phosphorus-31 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Studies on (15)N-Labelled (PR3 = PMe3, PEt3, PPh3, PMe2Ph, or 0.5Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2), and Investigation into its Protonation

99percent Nitrogen-15-enriched (S3N2Cl)Cl and S4N3Cl can be used to prepare enriched samples of (1; PR3 = PMe3, PEt3, PPh3, PMe2Ph, or 0.5Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) in which both 2J and 4J((15)N-(31)P) couplings are observed.Phosphorus-31 n.m.r. spectroscopy provides information on the degree of protonation of mixtures of (1) and X (X = Cl, BF4, or PF6) and reveals the protonated Pt compounds to be stronger acids than their Pd analogues.
