Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1042-59-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,0,4 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1042-59:
(6*1)+(5*0)+(4*4)+(3*2)+(2*5)+(1*9)=47
47 % 10 = 7
So 1042-59-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Short side chain sterols from the tunicate Polizoa opuntia
Palermo, Jorge A.,Rodriguez Brasco, Maria F.,Hughes, Enrique A.,Seldes, Alicia M.,Balzaretti, Vilma T.,Cabezas, Eduardo
, p. 2 - 6 (2007/10/03)
The sterol composition of the Patagonian tunicate Polizoa opuntia was examined, and twenty-four compounds were identified as having either a Δ5, Δ7 or Δ0 nucleus. Two of them, the rare 20-methylpregn-5-en-3β-ol and 20-ethylpregn-5-en-3β-ol, were previously unreported as natural products from tunicates. These compounds were present only as trace components: therefore, their structures were confirmed by synthesis from suitable precursors and by comparison of the spectral and chromatographic constants of the synthetic and natural compounds.
