The thermolysis of 1,5,6,7-tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)-2,3,4-triazabicyclohepta-2,6-diene (3) without a solvent gave 1--2,2,2-trifluoroethylimine (2).The flash vacuum pyrolysis of 3 gave 1,2,3-tris(trifluoromethyl)cyclopropene (6). 1,2,3,4-Tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)pyrrole (5) was produced in both reactions. 1,2,3-Tris(trifluoromethyl)cyclopropen-3-yl trifluoromethyl ketone (1) and 2 were found to react as good dienophiles and gave products obtained through the transition states where the electron-deficient part of the dienophiles attracted the electron-rich part of the diene components, a hetero atom or the diene moiety.
