The reaction between ClO4 and 1-hydroxymethyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazole has been shown by spectroscopic and X-ray crystallografic methods to give the amidine complex (PPh3)2>ClO4.

The reaction of the ruthenium hydrides 1CN)2(PPh3)2>A (A=ClO4 or PF6) (R1=Me or CH2Ph) or the alkenyl derivatives 1)(R2CN)2)(PPh3)2>PF6 (R1=CMe3, Ph; R2=Me or CH2Ph) with pyrazole or 3,5-dimethylpyrazole gives the ruthenium(II) pyrazolylamidine complexes 1)(het)>(PPh3)2>A or 1)2)(het)>(PPh3)2>A, respectively (het=pz or Me2pz).The stereochemistry of the resulting complexes has been determined by NOEDIFF experiments and by the X-ray structure determination of (PPh3)2>PF6.
