The present invention concerns quinoxaline derivatives of the structural formula I: STR1 wherein the two substituents R on the phenyl rings are equal or different and represents C1 -C5 lower alkyl, and R1 is a 6- or 7-position substituent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy and lower alkanoyl. Such compounds have been found useful in preventing swine dysentery as well as being used as animal growth promotants.
