Chlorophosphane 1 reacts with substituted allyl-Grignard reagents 2a, b to yield the 1,3-diphospha-1,5-hexadienes 3a, 4b. 31P-NMR temperature run of 3a shows dynamic processes, which can be explained by inversion of the trivalent P-atom.Above 40 deg C 3a undergoes a -phospha-carbon Cope rearrangement to give the thermodynamically stable product 4a.The structures of 3a and 4a are confirmed by X-ray structure analysis.
