The ease of formation of the phosphonate complexes (M = Rh, Ir), from the pentakis-trimethylphosphite complexes Cl is reported.Differences in the interaction of H2 with the complexes M'(P(O)(OMe)2(P(OMe)3)4), (M' = Co, Rh, Ir) are presented and discussed.
