1-(6'-Substituted-2'-benzothiazolyl)-3,4-dimethylpyranopyrazol-6(1H)-ones (3) have been synthesized (i) by the reaction of 2-hydrazino-6-substituted-benzothiazoles (1) with ethyl acetoacetate and (ii) by the reaction of 1-(6'-substituted-2'-benzothiazolyl)-3-methylpyrazol-5-ols (2) with ethyl acetoacetate.Some of the compounds (3a-c and 3e) display moderate levels of antiinflammatory activity.
